This study reveals that patients recognise their COPD exacerbations by visible and invisible clinical manifestations. Patients who previously had exacerbations already know that when they were having an exacerbation and they added medication with their self-management strategies to manage COPD exacerbation. Health care professionals were accessed when patient felt that their condition was not improving. Patients were admitted in the ED when patient failed to self-manage and identify the exacerbation. The centre of attention of this paper associate with strategies used in the management and identification of the exacerbation of COPD. The number of patients with severity of COPD Gold stage II, gold stage III, gold stage IV is 14, 21 and 9 respectively. 29 patients were living with family members whereas 15 were living alone. The number of female and male patients were 27 and 17 respectively. Visible symptoms patients describe associated with COPD exacerbation were cough, fever. These COPD symptoms also limit bodily activities. There are also some invisible symptoms which heaviness and tightness of the chest also leads to the exacerbation. Resting and Breathing techniques were used by patients to self-manage the COPD exacerbation in the stable period but during exacerbation patients included medications to manage the exacerbation. The first approach to deal with this condition was that they learnt from their previous experience of COPD exacerbation and took careful steps to lessen the effect of COPD. This was come into sight that patients were positive that they can identify and manage the exacerbation and start taking medication. Some patients were not ready to take medication although they identified the copd exacerbation because they thought that their body will overcome that exacerbation by
