Why would the passage of CLIA matter to the patient?
“Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments Act it passed in 1988 guides the rules and regulations associated with policies and procedure for laboratories.”(Malone, 2015 pg.16) Most of the laboratory is required with the CLIA regulations. The laboratories in different state have to pay a fee and each state would have there own rules and regulations for procedures of the laboratory. The CLIA matter to the patient because it is involving there test results and it should be protected when there testing is being processed. The patient test results for could come back as an error and physician could prescribe a medication that the patient would not need all because a testing process errors.
