Curanderismo has been a presence in my life since I was very young. Growing up in a small community in Northern New Mexico ensured that I was exposed to traditional medicine and alternative forms of spirituality. This class was not my first exposure to curanderismo, though many of the readings and videos helped clarify and explain many of the elements of curanderismo that had been present in my life, but had not been explained. Upon reflection of the EDF5141 Health unit. I believe it has assisted me in gaining some skills which will result in helping me reach my goals as a teacher. These goals I have for myself align with two Australian Professional Teaching Standards (APST) by the AITSL. I am intrigued by the level of trained professional care that is governed in RTCs. When I think of RTC, I remember when I worked at the CSB. While the staffs are trained professional, I did not have the knowledge to understand the level of therapeutic intensity. The CSB RTC was for adults and not children, which explains the level of medical personal on staff, but I think all RTC should provide on-site medical care. It is my understanding that the lack of funding provides a level of understanding for the deficiency of staff.…
