CCHCA Reflection

Decent Essays
I gradually became an organized person while I was volunteering at CCHCA. In the past, the lack of organization has always been a hidden weakness in my personality. I often spend too much time on details, not taking into account the overall structure, and ending up slow the things down. When I started as a volunteer at CCHCA, I was responsible for assisting dietitians in a diabetic workshop. I did not get everything organized at first, and eventually I needed the help of the dietitian, all the materials were prepared the day before the workshop. At that moment, I realized the importance of organizing and getting prepared early. To remedy this weakness, I'll design a to-do list before the project begins and schedule the start and finish date

Over the course of studying E214 I have thought greatly about my own practice working as an HLTA in a mainstream primary school, where I mainly work with children that experience barriers to learning. These barriers are due to the children having special educational needs or due to having English as an additional language. I now question whether the children I work with are part of a system that has created othering and if through them being othered they included as fully as possible or are they still subject to exclusion through the barriers they experience when accessing the national curriculum or through their progress not being as high as expected by society. Consider this - being disorganized is more personal and individual than being organized because one of the reasons people are organized is because they were taught to be, in all likely-hood, by someone who was organized themselves with one system. If you were never taught organization and didn't have an inherent propensity to be organized, you then set about your disorganization in your own way and searching to counterbalance that may lead you to believe that you don't fit into any category leading you to conclude that forcing a new design on your habits and behavior may seem more that you can handle and once again you feel as though you are, indeed,…
