Overall the course exposed me to all the course CACREP 2009 standards listed in the syllabus. The classroom discussions, assignments, discussion questions, and various researches provided ample examples of G.3.f. …environmental factors that affect normal and abnormal behavior. This standard was demonstrated through our classroom discourse. Several students described what they considered normal through familial and personal life experiences. This type of discourse solidified the ideology that counselors must at times not only agree to disagree with their client’s perceptions but use their client’s perceptions of what is normal in developing a treatment plan that will function in their social structure.
