CAB 100 Reflection

Decent Essays
The first week of CAB 100 being taught by Professor Bailey was very interesting, yet fun and exciting. The first activity the class did was an ice breaker where every student grabbed as much toilet paper tissue as they desired, but the catch was the student had to tell something about themselves equal to the amount of toilet tissue they grabbed.
For the second part of class the professor introduced herself to the class. At this point she then told the class about herself and why we all were taking this class. She gave us a little a course overview with a video. At this point the class also learned about the Learning Assistance Center, which then Alex ( a representative of the Learning Assistance Center) and told us about the services they

During the first half of the semester for ENC 1102, I believe that my writing skills have improved from ENC 1101; some of which are getting to page length, correctly citing a source, and incorporating how a quote is related to my argument. I still have some errors within my writing that I have not quite figured out how to tackle. Some concepts that I have not gotten down to a tee must be coming up with a thesis statement, basic grammar errors, introducing quotations, and repetition. I have also learned how to distinguish the difference between a personal essay and an argumentative essay with first hand on the two types and how why my grade differed from essay one and two.…

    Curanderismo Reflection

Curanderismo has been a presence in my life since I was very young. Growing up in a small community in Northern New Mexico ensured that I was exposed to traditional medicine and alternative forms of spirituality. This class was not my first exposure to curanderismo, though many of the readings and videos helped clarify and explain many of the elements of curanderismo that had been present in my life, but had not been explained. Curanderismo is just as much of a form of cultural expression as it is a form of traditional healing. Personally, curanderismo is a link to my cultural and family history, helping to continue traditions that my family has had for generations.…

When Copper Trails opened in the year of 2009, the teachers and staff had shown a lot of excitement to teach the next generations. Since the time I was one of the Kindergarten students to now being 8th grade student, I have always felt a welcoming atmosphere here. It will always hold a special place in my heart as a second home to me. I have seen numerous students and teachers transfer out of Copper Trails to different schools. As a matter of fact, quite a few of those that transferred out were once close friends of my mine.…

Sandra, I could think of one area in which to me the 5Cs did not do a good enough job for improved patient outcomes and that would be in the area of patient identification because it relies on verbal affirmation of name (Institute for Safe Medical Practices, 2011). I work at the VA and for whatever reason I have and can have three John Richardsons in one night to care for of my six patients all clustered in the same area (some may be spelled slightly different)! Or all my patients or in for the same condition. I have had to stop many doctors from going into the wrong room to consult on a patient when they have just scribbled the name of the patient on a piece of paper. Sometimes I do not catch them in time and they walk out asking why certain…

Extra assistance from older children can be less intimidating which means they can listen at a greater rate. Also, the additional attention from older students may dissuade the younger students from acting out because they may be missing this attention in the classroom or at home. Within the school is also an advocate program, which helps students who are struggling academically which helps to create individual learning plans for the students without labeling them. This provides students with what they need without making them feel any different from their…

The course AFAS 160 D1 is my first online class, and until now I still felt lucky to choose this class as one of my general education classes, because it gave me a great opportunity and an eye-opening experience about learning the African American Culture which I have never learned before and also gave me a chance to learn online. Describing this course to someone else, I would say this class is interesting and if you want to learn this class well, you need to prepare the Voice Thread and read the book carefully. To be honest, making videos on Voice Thread gave me a unique experience. I still remembered the first time I made a video on Voice Thread how nervous I was, I was afraid to have different ideas with other students and worried if they disagreed with me what should I do?…

Spare time is given after the lecture is complete , so of course Lucy turns to that person’s direction and for the first time she actually wants to learn more about another person. Lucy could go on talking with that person, more than she already has, but class has come to end. The rest of the day was a blur to Lucy, her mind had been occupied by that person and as soon as she got home, she leaned back on her bed and sighed of exhaust. EDA 103-80 Final This semester I was excited to take EDA 103 because I have always loved working with special education students and I wanted to learn more about the kids I was helping. I have learned a lot of important information from this course, but I think the most important thing I have learned is how to be sensitive when speaking of a student’s disability. Prior to this semester, I did not see how statements like, “That student is a handful because of their disability” or “I love all of my students who have Down syndrome”, could be so offensive.…
