C.S Lewis and Aristotle tackle the idea of pride in two opposite ways. Lewis analyzed pride to be the worst thing to happen to the human race because pride leads to arrogance. He focuses on the extrinsic version of pride. Whereas Aristotle finds pride to be virtuous, as he analyzed the intrinsic values of pride. The pride people find in their accomplishments and to propel them towards worth. In both instances, pride is a deep satisfaction of one’s self. The opposite of pride is humility, a modest view of one’s importance.
Pride and humility both effect leadership. Pride allows a leader to be confident in their own competence. A prideful Aristotelian leader is happy in the accomplishments of his subordinates and therefore can run an
