Many people would describe home as a warm and welcoming place providing an individual shelter and security. Especially, after a long vacation, we all start to seek the comfort of home. Although, home is not necessarily a materialistic object in which we reside in. Home is rather an unimaginable longing that our hearts begin to seek when we are living in a constant circle of dissatisfaction. As humans, we are wandering around in a world where we are constantly striving to fill a void mentally, physically and spiritually. This worldly and internal conflict has been occurring since the beginning of time. In today’s society we are allured with consumption. We possess a burning desire for wealth, health, and success. Generations are becoming more …show more content…
Lewis argued that there is a home for the hearts of Christians for “If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world” (Lewis). He builds the foundation of his argument by proclaiming if wealth, hierarchy and lust are not satisfying you, then maybe you are meant for a different purpose. On the other side of the coin, you have people in the world who declare their satisfaction is completely fulfilled through authority, entitlement, and self absorption. This declaration is not surprising considering “our narcissistic society encourages the veneration of entertainers by raising them to the status of cultural royalty” (Lewi). In a society where selfishness and entitlement is favored, it is challenging to let God take control. My position on this matter clearly stands, no matter what satisfies our desires in this world our hearts are always going to long for home in the “great kingdom of heaven”(“Matthew”). I am already somewhat knowledgeable in this field, thus my research strategy is simpler than it would be on a topic I knew nothing about. I also plan to tie in health with my argument, primarily by providing …show more content…

Another reason why C.S. Lewis believes that faith in Christ is the only way to become a true human being is because if we have faith in Christ then we will begin to show Christ through ourselves. By that I mean that we will show characteristics of compassion, care, and many more extraordinary traits. If we were not to have faith in Christ then we would turn to bad characteristics like hate. Our world today is very corrupt in many ways. Most people although calling themselves a Christian actually have no faith in Christ.…

The book Simply Christian by N.T. Wright there are three main parts, “Echoes of a Voice”, “Staring at the Sun”, and “Reflecting the Image”. In part 1, “Echoes of a Voice”, he isolates four voices: the longing for justice, the thirst for spirituality, the craving for relationships, and the attraction of beauty each of which point the human soul toward God. He focuses on our longing for justice first. He doesn’t understand how on one hand we all have the same sense that justice exists but on the other hand after millennia of humans existing we can’t get any closer to it than the ancients did.…

To submit to it is not conceit or megalomania; it is obedience” (p. 109). In this statement Lewis urges the reader to realize that just like God, who will not go astray from his plan, Christians must do the same. Thus, to possess humility is to be obedient to…

Hence, he cannot understand why God created mankind. He cannot understand how God could love the world so much that he gave his only son so that he could die on the cross for humans’ sins. He doesn’t understand why God wants to reward humans in Heaven for their virtues and beliefs. By exploring Screwtape’s misunderstanding of the basic human idea and his incomprehension of love, Lewis composes his own theory of what human’s love should be. Screwtape believes that one has to love themselves before they can love their neighbors.…

My Christian beliefs, after reading the book by C.S. Lewis, are distinctly more complex than what I believed earlier. It is not necessarily that they are different; they have just evolved. In order for Christians to explain Christianity to others, we need to understand Christian foundations ourselves. My parents taught me my Christian beliefs and I first believed those Christian principles on blind faith alone. While blind faith belief was acceptable as a child, there comes a point when one must discover, on their own, what it truly means to be a Christian.…

Albert Einstein claims that “the most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science.” Often humans try to puzzle together lives of others, however, they don't realize that a person can never be completely figured out despite possibly knowing everything about them. Through the use of a visual poetical form, Jason E. Lewis depicts the true art of the mystery of identity in Nine.…

So if these realties are left unaccounted for they are destructive. For Lewis, Christianity was this governing power. In The Chronicles of Narnia, it acts as a guard for his literary vision. Lewis took issue with raw romanticism believing that it would self-destruct and be unsuccessful in keeping its word. It does not work well.…

What role of the OT Law should be in the life of the Church? There are six hundred and thirteen laws Mosaic Laws and many Christians today find themselves wondering which of the Mosaic Laws are to be followed and which ones are to be considered obsolete. According to Matthew 5:17, more importantly according to Jesus, the Laws have been fulfilled; "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." 1 I found it stated in the following way;…

148731 No Home, No Problem? Times are changing at a more rapid speed than ever before. With a fast-paced, globalizing society, people begin to lose ties to their home, their place of origen. In the personal essay, “On Going Home”, Joan Didion comments on her own personal experience when visiting her family and conveys her disappointment that the younger generations do not have a home to come back to; they lack tradition. The news article, “Gimme Shelter”, written by Corinne Purtill communicates a similar subject, but in a different context.…

What Is Home? For some people, home is the place they return to each night after they end their day at school or at work. Home is the place that has four walls, a roof, a kitchen, bathroom, and living room where they can sit down and put their meet up in front of the television as they relax from a long, stressful day. For other people, home is cannot be found in a specific physical structure or geographical location, and is, instead, a feeling of comfort and safety that a certain place provides. Like the people who consider home a physical structure, these people know they are home when they can be who they are without being judged by society or by others who might not like how they act or how they look.…

The book When Culture Collide by Richard Lewis generally divides some nations (and regions, more specifically) into 3 cultural types: “the linear-actives” (Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg” “the multi-actives” (Latin countries) and “the reactive” (mainly the Asia) . And it is quite popular among a great number of people:“it has been in the third edition (by the ending of the cited essay) and sold over 1,000,000 copies” being deemed a “Bible” (may someone get angry due to such a stupid analogy)-the Wall Street Journal treated it as “an authoritative road-map to navigating the world’s economy”. Anyway, the work of such a world traveler and ten-language master is tenable-at least in some way, though I not completely believe it owning some mistakes inside that needs (urgently) correcting. Now I will pick some points that are well representative up to have an argue. It firstly mentions the “linear-actives” that represents being organized and with one target at a time, and adhering to a plan and following “action chains”.…

If you ask any individual what is home to them, you will hear many different answers because at the end of the day home is based upon one 's opinion on it. Some individuals do not even think home has a positive outcome. Many consider home to be a social group they belong to, for example, baseball , basketball , tennis , soccer, and swimming. Others consider home to be religion, culture, and even their homelands. For me, home is that place with which I can identify myself with, where I can feel safe and have a real and genuine connection with our peers and family members.…

“Before a problem can be solved, it must be carefully defined and clearly acknowledged” (Moreland, pg. 109). I think the most challenging part of my life is addressing that there is a problem. In today’s world, it is so easy to live in self-denial. I spent half of my high school career in denial that I had a problem, and that it needed to be solved. Prior to my junior year of high school, I didn’t know or really desire to even know Jesus Christ.…
