C I 302 Reflection

Decent Essays
In C I 302 this spring, I hope to further expand my knowledge on how to effectively integrate digital tools into my future classroom in order to improve my students learning. In courses like C I 201, I was introduced to numerous digital tools and applications that will be useful to me as a teacher, but I recognize that there are more useful tools out there for me to become familiar with. In this course, I hope to not only get to experiment with different tools that can be used in the classroom, but also learn how I can use them to facilitate learning in specific content areas. Often times, I believe teachers use technology as a replacement for teaching or for students to play “educational” games as a reward. For this reason, I hope to be able

For students, the technology content offers audio summaries, links to videos, animation and graphic organizers. On-line students have access to a media toolkit and a student presentation builder. This allows students to create responses to the text, once again allowing students to make a connection to what they learned. Technology is a growing part of our society, and has found its way into our educational system. There are many debates on the role that technology has in the classroom and its effectiveness as a teaching tool. In the article “Makes learning fun” by Clifford Stoll, he argues that technology has taken the learning out of schools and replaces it with fun and games. Stoll claims that machines and computers prevent learning because it disrupts the interactions between teachers and students. On the other hand, in “From Learning as Torture to Learning as Fun” by Don Tapscott, he claims that technology allows students to become more invested in their learning and develop useful skills.…

Through IN151, I have seen that my writing has improved tremendously. From IN150, Dr. O’Conner hammered into his students’ heads that argumentative pieces of writing should include the author’s own voice and opinion in them, and with this, I was given the opportunity to put my own opinion in a piece of writing through taking IN151. During this semester, my peers and I went through extensive research to draft up an essay on a particular controversial issue. If anyone has ever said that writing is hard, they probably did not have to brainstorm of a topic to write on. In my opinion, this is the hardest part of any piece of writing.…

Technology has many positive aspects, but often gets a bad rap. According to Wedlock & Growe, “The problem is that technological innovations need to be transformed from tools of obsession into tools of education”…

Fortunately, everything that is accessed by the interactive whiteboard can be accessed by a laptop. Therefore, all the examples mentioned above are available at the student’s fingertips. In light of Jean Piaget’s constructivist theory of learning that develops from within the child, laptops allow the students to self-explore the world of technology and the endless resources for education. For example, with schools that provide individual laptops that are permitted to be taken home and used at their own expense, students are provided the opportunity to gain knowledge of technology through their own experiences. Similarly, assessments that require study and a creation of ideas or presentation can be experimented through a variety of trial and errors on the laptops.…
