Byres Park: A Short Story

Improved Essays
When I was about five or six I went to summer camp. And sometimes I went to the park. I also went up north to my cottage quite often. I also went to a summer camp at Grosse Point Nursery School. I also liked drawing with chalk, and annoying my sister. During the weekdays that I wasn’t at camp, my brother or sister would babysit Aidan and me.

I was in a camp at the Grosse Point Nursery. That was where I went to preschool. Which is why I went there. I only did one year at camp. My brother Aidan did two years. And my older brother and sister did a lot more. At the camp it was okay, it wasn’t that much fun. We had two bike washes. Except I didn’t go for the first one. I didn’t know how to ride my bike yet. We went on lots of fieldtrips to the

We usually went to Fredrick Park near my house. Sometimes we would go to Byres Park and ride bikes around the sidewalk. At Byres park there is a long sidewalk that is in a giant circle. You can walk, run, and ride your bike on it.

When I went up north we went to my cottage. My cottage is in Caseville.
My cottage isn’t on the water. My grandma who lives up north, her house is on the water. She had a dog that died, but he had one eye. I liked him very much. When I was there I liked to go swimming. My papa had a jet ski we would play on a lot. I also liked digging holes, and building sandcastles. My brother and sister would bury me. By drawing on the sand on top of me, they would make me into an animal or fantasy character. Such as a mermaid or superhero.

I also liked to bother my sister when she had friends over. My sister hung out a lot with me during the summer when I was younger. We would color in coloring books. Play with stuffed animals. Draw with chalk, which we did very often. Sometimes we would trace each other. When she had friends over we used to run through sprinklers. Sometimes we would use the sprinkler on the trampoline. One of my brothers, Aidan and I would put the hose on the trampoline and jump around. We would also play Mario kart for many

My Michigan Hero Essay If I had to describe how I feel the only way I can is by saying that I feel like a pane of glass that's been shattered and put back together with ductape that doesn't stick, or like I'm drowning in my own depression. One person has always been able to bring me back to a little bit happier state, that person is my 53 year old grandpa who is also a tow truck driver, a semi driver, and a fireman. My grandpa has always been special to me because no matter what I do or how I feel he can manage to put a smile on my face. I remember going to my grandpa's "adopted" parents (Flourence and Neal's) house which also happens to be who he works for when he's driving tow trucks.…

It was a perfect summer day outside; the type of weather a family would enjoy outside on their front yard. It was at least eighty-five degrees outside with a slight breeze, kids were either wearing tank tops or tee-shirts with shorts and slippers, sundresses, or outside with their bathing suits. Outside you could see; kids playing tag, opening the fire hydrant, playing basketball and eating hot dogs and burgers. With all this occurring my family decided to sit out in the front yard and relax. Whenever we had family around it wasn’t just mom, dad and siblings, it was all of our aunts, uncles, cousin and grandparents.…

As I sat at my kitchen table, I sipped apple cider from a mug and found myself growing antsy gazing at my cell phone. There I was looking at nature photography on Instagram while drinking earth’s sweet nectar and yet, this was not appreciating the timeless grandeur of the outdoors in its entirety. Upon realizing this, I was eager to immerse myself in the tangible earth that lay beyond my phone screen. I grabbed my trusty camera before hastening to my car, and began driving. The air seemed to had gotten crisper as the miles lessened between me and the destination.…
