Not revealing too much information at once; slowly revealing major plot points and keeping the story interesting. The story starts off with John scavenging scrap metal from the ruins of a house. Slowly showing his interest in the gods and his curiosity. Along the way revealing where the probable location of his tribe/people while giving hints at who the gods are. Eventually, telling the reader who the gods were in a subtle manner. Do to the primitive nature of the terminology the reader can easy understand the fascination of the main character as the root of all culture is very similar and relatable. The words forbidden and god is found in all cultures worldwide and is easy relatable to the religion John practices in the story.
