Butterworth And Barrett Analysis

The two sides of my family, Butterworth (Father) and Barrett (Mother), stretch back hundreds of years. These families split off into many different maiden names including Attersall and Mead. I have ancestral roots in English, Scottish, German, Welsh, and Swedish people as well as having Canadian ancestry (including Aboriginal) dating back to the 1600s. My family has roots in Canadian history with being involved in fighting against the rebellions to selling guns to Métis people and Louis Riel himself.

The side of my family with the most Canadian heritage is my mother’s side with the Barretts and the Meads. Desmond Barrett is my grandfather who was born in Canada. Since then my family has stayed in Canada and has not left along my lineage. My ancestors have seen the battlefields of several different battles in Canada including those including in the North West Rebellion. A company that one of my ancestors ran, the Great Western Saddlery Company, sold guns to Métis warriors under the control of Louis Riel which was one of the factors that made the battles against the Canadian government so successful. My family saw the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railroad as well as the construction of many of the cities that could be found along the line. Back to the present day the Mead family is continued on through both Larry and David. The Barretts are continued on by my grandfather, Desmond, solely. My immediate family consists of my father, David, my mother, Sandra, and me. My father’s family lived in England until the 1970s when they moved to Canada. My grandfather, John, was a radar technician for the Queen of England, Elizabeth II and was married to Rona Attersall. My father was born on a naval base in Singapore where

Explain how you see the Canadian identity. Although there are many interpretations of what one sees as a Canadian identity. I see Canada as a ‘cultural mosaic’; a multicultural country where different cultures and identities coexist peacefully. In other countries, assimilation is integrated as part of the immigration process, and even require the immigrant ‘to fit in’ with the culture.…

My Irish heritage has been a central focus of my life for as long as I can remember, dictating the stories I hear, the food I eat, and the way I act. Every one of my ancestors hailed from Ireland on both my mother’s and my father’s sides of the family. My father’s family hails from County Kerry, and my mother’s from Counties Offaly and Mayo. Most of my relatives came to the United States four or five generations back, but my closest connection comes from my maternal grandfather. When his parents came to New York City, they had already met in Ireland, so when my great grandfather left for America to find work, my great grandmother Lucy Finnerty followed him over.…

I have traced back the ancestry on the Ofelt and Marlow side thoroughly, but not as much on the Strenke…
