Our group had an efficient interview with Busy Bee babysitter organization last week. We were meeting on campus last Tuesday afternoon, and we decided to interview both manager and employee to comprehensive understanding of the organization's operating conditions and communication. We established our team’s goal for this interview was to basically get more background information and to get a better idea how they operate. Mariana and I were responsible for interviewing the manager of Busy Bee, other team members were going to interview some Mariana’s colleagues. We came up more than 20 questions for manager and staff respectively. After meeting, I scheduled a phone interview with the manager Katrina Brumm on Sunday.

Laws have been an essential component to the peace and stability in society. The United States have been involved in some of the world's most significant treaties and agreements, but for the welfare of the country, the Civil Rights Act is arguably the most influential. It was signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson, but many political and historical figures including John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and Rosa Parks aided in this monumental movement. Undeniably, it was for the greater good and has changed history, but “The Secret Life of Bees” proves that there are always downsides to something seemingly beneficial. The laws were extremely controversial, especially in the Southern side of the country, so there were bound to be consequences.…

“‘Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction’”- John C. Crosby. Crosby is saying a mentor is someone who guides and supports you. Mentorship and friendship can be topics of needed discussion; they’re found in The Secret Life Of Bees as well as Of Mice and Men. Sue Monk Kidd delivered a stronger message about friendship/mentorship in The Secret Life Of Bees that Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men. First off Lily, the main character in The Secret Life Of Bees, didn’t have a parental mentorship and Kidd delivered that as a strong point pertaining to what it means to be a mentor.…

This interview took place in Dean Vargas’ office. As a first year advisor in the school of engineering, she has been busy in the past month assisting first year students in picking which type of engineering they are most interested in and helping them to plan their schedules for the upcoming year. This meant that she did not have the time to meet somewhere else. If this were not a factor, I would have suggested meeting in a cafe as that would have caused Dean Vargas to view me less as one of her many students and more as an individual woman, coming to her for assistance in navigating the unique set of circumstance women engineers need to navigate. I believe that as a result of holding the meeting in her office and not in a secondary location,…
