The bust focuses space around viewer’s space, as it is 3D. It focus’s the space around the head and neck. Space is crowded more around hair, but is sparse on back. Canova uses negative space to show marble and positive space to create form; an example would be the nose.

The piece is symmetrical on face and form of where hair and hat are placed upright. Although, it is asymmetrical with neck and body turning one way, details hairs in curls, and creases in body to make it appear natural but not symmetrical. This bust is around life size scale and the composition of figure is varied. This can be seen crowded near hair creases, but neck and body are open with head movement, and head movement is repetitive towards curls. The middle ground would be where the pillar is sculpted and placed while the foreground would be the body of marble sculpture, but background would be space around
