If you would kindly, put yourself in the mindset of a young adult that’s later in college. Your interests are likely developed, you have your major and minor and you know what classes you enjoy and which ones you could do without so to speak. Let me ask you, what careers and pathways would you be looking forward to attaining? Most of the common population would most likely think these would include the basics such as education, health services, social sciences and the occasional thespian or actor. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case as in 2011-2012, of the 1,791,000 conferred bachelor’s degrees the greatest number of degrees that were conferred were in the field of business. 367,000 business degrees were conferred during that time. However, many students still don’t know the opportunities of business careers when they enter the workforce due to ideas such as business is boring and they don’t want to be stuck in an office all day. Well, business related careers offer many opportunities that don’t include just being stuck in an office or doing boring work. Careers such as being a statistician if you enjoy mathematics and want to work for big corporations or even an entrepreneurship job if you are a people person and enjoy moving around. These opportunities are very influential in the lives of students and the outlook for these careers is very good. Some of the best business careers in the current market include Statistician, Accountant or Financial Advisor, or even Operations Research Analyst. Their pay grade isn’t too bad
