Mamet’s work suggests that the nature and the importance of business ethics are crucial when selling because if you are unethical during the process, this will be known when the transaction is done. Conducting ethical procedures in a business is a necessity because they are a proponent to the morale of the employees. When ethical behavior is treated as a luxury instead of a necessity, the results become detrimental because the characters felt completely fine manipulating their customers to better their chances at winning the Cadillac. The fault lies with Mitch and Murray, the motivational speakers, and Williamson because they pursue their employee’s best sales skills in a way that will force them to make ethical mistakes. Ethical behavior should be encouraged because the behavior helps sales, keeps employees honest to consumers, and does not put a negative reputation on the company. Business ethics and sales are compatible to a certain extent, but Mitch and Murray made them incompatible due to their pressure on employees to sell an exaggerated amount of leads. Business ethics keep the organization in order, but can set a business back with violations of ethical principles. Identity produces a successful business if the employees use their identity as salesmen for the company’s benefit and not to their own advantage. Mamet also uses management style, business ethics, and identity to show the elements of a business and employees. Management style will depict how the company will be coordinated. Business ethics will be a parameter for the employees to act when selling the product. Identity can consume the employee to either benefit the company or benefit themselves.
