Business Analyst Personal Statement

After graduate school, I want to start as a business analyst in a consulting company, where I can grow and take on new challenges over time. As I progress through my career with depth experiences explored from different angles, I would like to assume more management responsibilities and get involved in IT strategy, and ultimately, transfer to an enterprise architect.

The gap year after graduation affords me the time to take a close look at the real-world workplace and find out what I really want to do with my future. After I left school, I started to work at Universal Prospect Corporation, an advertising consulting firm, as an account executive. My daily work consists of searching for new clients and offering them the most suitable advertising plans. I was excited when I heard of the launch of the MSBA program. Besides the world-class faculty, the program curriculum setting also impressed me. The flexible curricular tracks leave the choice of specialized fields in the hands of students. Therefore, I can arrange my course selection according to the required skills by the job positions as a business analyst. The mixing and matching electives across the subject areas would provide me the opportunity to establish breadth expertise by looking at my domain from a 360-degree view as well as depth expertise by concentrate mainly on one track. The program, moreover, designs a capstone project, which let students work on real-world, data-analytic projects with area companies. It would be a perfect chance for me to gain further insight into the functions of business analysts in the local market while systematically consolidating the professional knowledge I have learned in class.
