The Smiths were able to experience many different activities, from from the Sky Tower to Wine tours, to charter boats, all of which did not disappoint. However, MOTAT, was a big disappointment to the Smiths as is was extremely run down, and in desperate need of refurbishing. Unfortunately, this is the case with many, over rated tourist attractions. Attractions such as MOTAT, the New Zealand Maritime Museum, Kelly Tarlton 's Sea Life Aquarium and many more, are heavily relying on their “Auckland tourism attraction” brand, and the quality of the attraction is diminishing, as they are not keeping up to date with todays standards. Ultimately resulting in unsatisfied tourists, and as social media and reviewing one the internet is vastly taken in to account by tourist, these negative encounters can result in a decline in profits. Particularly as the premier tourist like the Smiths, are becoming more valuable it is a clear indicator that attractions need re-evaluate what they are selling and consider how it could be improved. Not only Auckland but New Zealand as well, markets themselves as a sunny, green country, however, as most residents would know this is not always the case when approaching the New Zealand winter. Generally, tourist tend to opt for Two places to visit when it is raining, are the Museum, and the Auckland Art Gallery, both of which only take a few hours to complete. During the month of April, when the Smiths visited, Auckland rains for 15 days on average, and with limited activities for dreary wet days, this is very concerning (Holiday Weather, 2016). Auckland has had other attractions for wet weather however, they are primarily targeted at adventure tourism, for example “Jump” or SnowPlanet”. Thus, these are unattractive activities to the older generation in the premier tourist market. Therefore, in order to elevate Auckland’s tourism, Auckland is required to create more luxury attractions for the rainy day. For example, Rotorua has the Polynesian spa, which is ideal, as it can warm up tourist on a cold day.
