Snap Inc. is a camera company. It was founded in September 2011 by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy and Reggie Brown as a disappearing instant messaging application using only images. According to the S1 filing, the mission of the company is to create products that “empower people to express themselves, line in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together” (Snap Inc., 2017). Snap Inc. is in the advertising industry, being that built into its platform is the ability for advertisers to market themselves to its user base. It also offers the ability for companies to purchase items such as “geofilters” and “lenses” to promote their products through product placement. As of February 2nd, 2017, Snap Inc. filed its IPO and raised $3.4 billion …show more content…
Some of the strengths of Snap include its drive to invest in innovation and to take risk to improve its camera platform. Snapchat is focused on long term user engagement even it must sacrifice short term engagement to introduce products that might change way people use the application. They also focus on truly being relevant to the user, improving ad delivery framework and scale of business to make better and more efficient decision. The products that Snap offers creates leverage new technology that might be different from what is already available. Snap shows patience in this new technology by waiting to monetize a product for it to reach a level of maturity and adoption where they feel comfortable prediction and selling advertisements against future engagements (Snap Inc., 2017). The bottom line, it attempts to remain practical. Snap’s core values center around the fact that they try to create camera products that are better able to reflect and improve our like experiences. In order to do that, it needs to listen to learn from its consumers and community. The business is also able to recognize its mistakes and to adapt quickly to those, showing great strength on behalf of the management.
