Business Analysis Of Porky's Smokehouse & Grill

Improved Essays
The business I decided to do this project on is Porky’s Smokehouse & Grill. I know the owners personally because they are very close family friends. They are so close in fact, that they vacationed on a cruise with my parents last year, and will attend the same cruise together again this year. The owner’s spouse has been one of my father’s best friends since they were around 10 years old.
Porky’s offers several different food items including fish, barbeque, burgers, baked potatoes, salads, and whole chickens. They also have appetizers, drinks, and desserts. Their most popular item is catfish. The restaurant’s food is labeled as some of the best food in Marshall, Texas. They have even won awards because of this.

The concept of the restaurant was inspired by the foil wrapped mission-style burritos Steve ate while working in San Francisco, California. When he proposed the idea to his friends and family, they were not too supportive about it. His dad’s response was “So you have six years of pretty expensive schooling here, and it's going to be burritos and tacos? Are you serious?”.…

After the quality of the food is considered, the next logical thing to look at is how it is being served. The service is another important factor when eating out because it sets the stage of how the meal will go. If the employees are rude or disrespectful it will ruin the rest of the night because even after the issue is solved the customer will still be fuming after the encounter. On the other hand if the service is wonderful the customer can then focus on the quality of the food. It is already clear that Chick-fil-A’s food is excellent, so it is important to analyze their service to see if it is up to par with similar restaurants and if it is unique.…
