Macy’s is known for its most recognizable retail marks, the Macy’s red star followed by it the “Macy’s” name. This was inspired by Rowland Hussey, the founder of Macy’s, based on his red star tattooed on his arm, which had a special meaning to him. Rowland Hussey decided to replace his original store’s trademark to the Macy’s red star. Within the store, customers will notice a variety of symbols and logos as they shop to the deepest of their hearts desires.

Historically, in the Macy’s store located in Bangor, there are two identical framed pictures. The pictures surprising have little to do with the store itself, as they were solely added as decorations to be pleasing to the eye. These pictures feature multiple men riding on elephants, people

Each brand has its own visual symbols or logos and names that are displayed within the store. Macy’s is not responsible for the specific brand designs. The signs make it easier for employees and customers to know where their desired brands are located in the store. Some of the most well known brands that Macy’s is known for carrying include: Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Polo Ralph Lauren, Levi’s, Gucci, Guess, Michael Kors, and Anne Klein. They enable shoppers to locate the section involving the hottest deals in the store! Everybody loves to save money and get bang for their buck! The cornucopia of different signs and symbols in the store aid shoppers in finding their desired brands or departments easily and quickly. They also help employees with organizing merchandise and making it easier to help point things out to a customer in need. The signs are utilized mainly to improve convenience for everybody. During the holiday seasons, Macy’s runs a campaign called “Believe” to support the Make-A-Wish foundation, a foundation that helps children with life-threatening medical conditions. In every store across the country, Macy’s has red letterbox and a huge “Believe meter” next to it, which are recognizable and symbolic to Macy’s and the Make-A-Wish Believe Campaign. The 2014 campaign will mark the 7th year that Macy’s and the Make-A-Wish foundation have celebrated this event. This campaign is designed so that everyone who believes in Santa Claus can send a stamped letter to Santa in the North Pole by dropping it in the special red letterbox located in every Macy’s nationwide. By doing so, for each letter that is received, Macy’s will donate between $1 and up to $1 million, to the Make-A-Wish foundation in order to help make a wish come
