Abstract is one of the most important parts of the writing. I usually don’t read any book without reading the abstract at first. Also, the abstract part helps me a lot when I buy some books, I usually skim through the abstract and if I like the content, I will buy it. The writer here is talking about the abstract and how to write it, he started with an example of the abstract of this book “21 genres”. I am pretty sure he wrote this part after writing the whole book, because it’s a great abstract and describes the book in a perfect way. He also listed another example about abstracts, before listing some questions and starting to talk about the content. He talked about the purpose of writing an abstract, and how it gives the reader the opportunity to continue reading or not. After that he talked about the audience of abstracts and that they pretty the same audience of the long text. He also talked about the content and how it’s a very short version of the long text, focusing on the main points and the highlights. At the end of talking about the shape of …show more content…
The writer here started with some examples of arguments. After that, he started to talk about the purpose of writing an argument and how we usually argue to persuade people and present our skills. He talked about the type of audience and how does it vary and he gave us an example about this variation, by talking about your situation in have an argument is class, you’ll have two different types of audience your teacher who you are not arguing with, and the students that you are arguing and trying to persuade them. He also talked about the content and how the thesis is important for the argument. And as a part of his typical format, he talked about the arrangements, variations and the tones.
