I stepped into the position as I was the frontrunner of the middle group and automatically began to navigate the rest of the group. It was affective because we never got lost, and it was a good experience for all.
Everyone got along with each other well, and helped each other in times of need. When someone needed water, or just needed a hand with cooking or packing away their tent, someone always jumper at the opportunity to give a lending hand.
I enjoyed the challenges and experiences that the bushwalking camp presented. From having to walk 20km in a day while carrying a heavy rucksack, to cooking dinner with a trangia, the camp was full of surprises, and it was thrilling to be able to complete such tasks. It was an amazing feeling after finishing the 20km on the Monday, and Tuesday was just an easy 8km, which felt like 2km after such a hard day beforehand.
To improve my performance, next time I would pay attention to where everything in my rucksack was packed, so that the essential items that were needed often weren’t at the very bottom, requiring me to unpack my whole rucksack just for one thing. I would also bring less water, as I carried a lot more than I used, and I would make sure to drink more and stay
