I wouldn’t describe it as a matter of not having substance and using fillers but more a matter of wanting things to look and feel nice. The exercise of writing a purpose statement has forced me to rethink that, to be efficient, cut out the extra words and thoughts and zero in what my intention is. As much as I enjoy independent work, I found the forums to be quite enjoyable. They provided an opportunity to get to know some of my classmates, recognize our similar interests as well as our differences. If it were not for Franklin’s posts, I would not have looked into CrossFit. He is a very good ambassador for the sport and his passion for it is clearly evident.
Brittany and I have a lot in common when it comes to our views on the importance of encouraging youth athletes to pursue multiple sports. Through her posts, I have been able to discover additional articles to research and even in my own readings, I think about how she would appreciate those articles as well.
In all honesty, there are no aspects of SPMT 600 that I did not enjoy. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I have enjoyed this experience. The only portion of this course that I found the least beneficial; and this does not reflect the content of this course, is the ethics section. I truly value ethics and I fully support the importance of it to research. Making Ethical Decisions is a required course for coaching certification in Canada and many of the same topics we discussed are similar or related to those required for conducting research. I personally found this topic to be a refresher but it is definitely valuable and needs to be included in this
