As a student in the BUSI 440 course I have found myself really enjoying and looking forward to the assignments. During the first weeks of the course, we were assigned to read over two articles explaining why internships matter. While reading such articles I noticed how much I agreed with the information, in “The Positive Implications of Internships on Early Career Outcomes” the author Nathalie Saltikoff brought up the point that students graduating with internship experiences in general are more likely than students without experiences to find employment. This statement made me realize how important internships truly are. If I look back at my past internship and work experiences, I notice that I was able to expand my networking circle and improve my thought process. Not only will it benefit me in the future once I establish my career but it has helped

When I first went into the internship I was expecting the work environment to me very strict and intimidating. As I started working more with my team and getting the hang of things I realized everyone was very welcoming to help out when one had questions. I thought when I received projects I would just be left by myself to figure it out but in reality I would always have someone checking and teaching me how to proceed with the projects. Although something’s caught me off guard there were a couple of things that I expected, considering the high profile of Goldman I came into the internship understanding everything is very controlled and secured. There is intensive security training before you actually start anything, as well even though you get help with many projects you do get a lot of projects you get assigned to. I was told to expect a heavy load of projects come once busy season starts. This has been true since the last busy season I have been with the
