Burton Poe's Accomplishments

His career was a really successful one. He wrote short stories, and many poems. When he was enlisted in the army, he published a set of poems called Tamerlane and Other Poems. That was his first set of poems to ever be published. In 1829 he published another set of poems called Al Aaraaf, Tamerlane, and Minor Poems. Neither one of these sets of poetry received significant critic or public affection. Poe later began to sell short stories to magazines. Over time he would come to edit many literary journals including the Burton’s Gentleman's Magazine and Graham’s Magazine in Philadelphia and Broadway Journal in New York City. (Poets, 2017). It is not known that Poe ever received any awards for his works, but he did have many great short stories.
