Burrows In The Trenches Research Paper

Soldiers used to dig burrows along the sides of the trenches. These burrows were where they went at times of rest. Soldiers usually got their sleep in the daytime after morning duty as they have a duty to watch for the enemy in times of darkness.

In this photograph, the soldier is seen crouching on the ground, sleeping. This indicates that the burrows are very shallow and not tall enough. This would make it a very uncomfortable living condition. The area around the man also looks dirty and unsanitary, hence this accentuates the likely chance of catching diseases.The guns next to the soldiers and their attire highlight that they are always armed and ready to
