Although, she thinks that things are getting worse she still manages to talk to him, which is giving her some hope. The fights are more intense, and she feels like she is slowly slipping away from him. These two lyrics towards the end of the song demonstrate that she is starting to lose all hope, “The flames are getting bigger now...I can hold on to you somehow…” She has been staying up most nights to try and figure out how to fix her relationship, but she keeps getting hurt, because she is putting all of her effort in. Even though she is staying up most nights, thinking about it makes her hurt because she knows that she cannot fix it. Throughout, Cam repeats, “I’ve been sleepwalking, been wandering all night...I’ve been sleepwalking too close to the fire…” She keeps trying to fix things, but she gets hurt every time. As the song proceeds, she tries to sound like things are getting better, but in reality they just keep getting worse. No matter how hard people try to achieve a goal they never know what the outcome will be until it actually happens. Even when the relationship is fixed, they don’t know how the relationship will affect their lives.
