Burning Bridge Sparknotes

Over the past two weeks I have finished reading the book The Burning Bridge by John Flanagan. This book starts off with Will and Halt going to the Ranger Gathering, but when they go there, they find out that Morgarath’s is preparing for war, so Gilan, Will and Horace are sent to Celtica to find some reinforcements. Upon arriving in Celtica, they find out that there is no one left in the villages. They find out that Morgarath is kidnapping Celts and forcing them to work for him for some reason. One night, upon capturing some bandits, the group bumps into an Araluen girl that goes by the name Evanlyn. Gilan, suspecting something is up, rides back by himself to warn King Duncan of Morgarath. Will, Horace and Evanlyn trail some wargals and find out that they had the Celts build a giant bridge to cross the Fissure. …show more content…
They were then captured by Erak and his crew to be brought to Skandia as slaves. After witnessing the bridge being burnt and Will and Evanlyn being captured, Horace rides back to tell King Duncan of Morgarath’s plans. They learn that Morgarath plans to have Skandians come from the fens and hit them like a hammer and anvil. They also learn that Evanlyn is actually Princess Cassandra, who is now on her way to Skandia. Morgarath’s force gets defeated, but upon surrendering, Morgarath challenges King Duncan to a battle, but Horace steps in and challenges Morgarath. Horace seemed defeated, but, using a trick Gilan taught him, defeated Morgarath and ended the short war. Ultimately, The Burning Bridge by John Flanagan is one of the best realistic fiction books I have ever
