Burn Plan Template

In analyzing the Mort and Carl Burn Plans, many aspects of each burn plan were different from the PBAT burn plan template. The PBAT burn plan is much more detailed and rigorous in its outline. The Mort and Carl Burn Plans were written in a TDA burn plan template, which is less structured and doesn’t require as much information as the PBAT. In both the Mort and Carl Burn Plans, contingency plans, landowner acknowledgment of responsibility, review of prescribed burn plan, and the witness of the responsibilities of the crew were just some of the points missing. Both templates required many of the same things, but the TDA lacked details and structure. Both Burn Plans were missing or did not have detailed GPS locations, actual fire-weather information, landowner contact information, Certificate No., and crew members and their responsibilities. Between the two templates, the PBAT is more detailed on the identify the burn boss, notifications, preburn factors and protection needs, smoke management, and mop up. The PBAT advantages are that it is a detailed burn plan template that if followed would less likely lead to mistakes and issues occurring during the burn. A disadvantage is that it requires more information which may not be available and can be time consuming. The TBA is less structured, allowing anyone to complete it, but it lacks certain details which could endanger the crew during the
