By: Daisja Mckinney The presence of the Burmese python is negatively impacting Florida’s everglades. According to the news article by Andrew Ng, Senator Bill Nelson brought a 16-foot Burmese python snake skin to a meeting to prove how much of a threat the pythons are!
Clearly, the Burmese pythons are drawing hunters to the everglades. According to Andrew Ng in his 2013 article, “To address the problem, the state's Fish and Wildlife Commission is sponsoring its first-ever python Challenge.” This means many hunters are coming to Florida for the thrill of the hunt. Although the quote may seem unimportant, if no animal can eat the python then the python is going to keep eating until there is no more wild life in the Everglades.
To put it simply, how is the presence of the Burmese python changing the Everglades? Because of hunters coming to the Everglades, the python is dangerous, and changes in the ecosystem pythons are having a negative impact on Florida’s Everglades. We must solve this problem
