Burmese Pythons Essay

“Hiss, Hiss”. That's the sound of an invasive species called the Burmese Python. There are thousands of the invasive Burmese Pythons loose in the Everglades and they pose a massive threat on Florida’s communities. The Burmese Python are changing the local animals, people, and ecosystems. These Burmese Python cannot survive without food, so they will hunt for food and that is exactly what they’re doing in the Everglades. First off, Burmese Pythons pose a massive threat to Florida’s communities because they change the local population of animals. The vicious Pythons are like eating machines and will eat anything in sight. The Pythons also put endangered animals at risk of extinction because of the amount of its species being killed by the Pythons. In source 1, paragraph 2, it says, “Burmese Pythons are carnivores and survive primarily on birds and mammals”. Do to the Burmese Pythons, many of the Everglades birds and mammals have been killed off and now rarely seen by the public. The reason why Pythons are loose in the Everglades is because of snake owners. When their snakes got too big, the owners released them back into the wild. In source 4, paragraph 3, it says,” And when their Pythons got too big, the owners got rid of them in the most irresponsible fashion. They just let them go back into the Everglades or some other wild area”. The owners of these Pythons hold responsibility for the Python outbreak and now because of them, The Pythons are roaming the Everglades in massive numbers.
