a.) The hypothesis of figure 2 observed in the scientific article was that the addition of soybean or buriti oil had a direct effect to the liver weight of rats registered to iron overload.
b.) The questions that they asked to address the hypothesis in the figure were whether or not iron intake had an influence on the weight gain of rats, and if there was a difference between the control groups fed with soybean oil and buriti oil, as well as experimental groups fed with soybean and buriti oil. Another question that was addressed was if iron intake contributes to the imbalance between the defense mechanism of the body and the formation of reactive species, also known as oxidative stress.
c.) The study tested the …show more content…
One control group (CS) containing 7 rats, was force-fed daily with saline and 93M diet added of soybean oil. The second control group (CB) containing 7 rats, was force-fed with saline and 93M diet added of Buriti oil. An experimental group (ES) containing 7 rats, was force-fed with iron II sulfate and 93M diet added with soybean oil. The second experimental group (EB) containing 7 rats, was also force-fed with iron II sulfate and 93M diet of Buriti oil. The 93M diet was based on the calculated suggestions of the American Institute of Nutrition (AIN). The diets for the CS, CB, ES, and EB groups were prepared on weekly basis and given to the rats daily. The experiment was based on 17
