The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was created by Congress under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 to ensure workers were provided with safe and healthy working conditions. Congress found that personal injuries and illnesses were more frequent in work related situations, which caused a loss in production, a decrease in wages, elevated medical expenses, and substantial disability compensation payments. In order to prevent personal injuries or illnesses in the work place, standards were established under the Act, which were taught to employers and employees through trainings and outreach. These standards provided workplace health and safety regulations to limit/prevent an employee’s exposure to possible hazardous situations/environments. In particular, Part 1910 covers Occupational Safety and Health Standards, which can range from hand protection to requirements for fixed ladders.…

Establish more sequential and progressive assignments for WO1 882As that better prepare them for the Mobility Officer position in the BCT and the strategic assignments that follow. One way to do this would be to reestablish assignments for WO1 882As in the Movement Control Teams. During the initial implementation of the MWO, positions existed in the 6 transportation movement control teams (MCT). Over time the demand for MWOs in the BCTs and the limited number of MWOs in the army eliminated these positions. Reestablishing the MWO position and manning them with WO1 882As would create a company level sequential starting positions equivalent to the MWOs knowledge, skills, and attitude.…

The southern border separating the United States from Mexico is nothing more than a river to people that live and work in the area; imaginary lines that decide the fate of so many people. A national structure requires a national organisation to be established or identified, that at the very least offers a consistency of approach within which the new advocacy service can be delivered. The national organisation model would be supported and influenced by national and regional advisory groups, similar to what the steering group currently does for each project, but with increased focus on change and action in support of the advocates' work. The national organisation, through its regional remit, would act as the employer and would be governed by a board structure. All services would be delivered locally through regional and local structures. While several organisations met a number of the criteria, only one stood out as being independently…
