Bundling Essay

Decent Essays
The pricing technique that I chose to explore is bundling. In bundle pricing, companies sell a package or set of goods or services for a lower price than they would charge if the customer bought all of them separately (Merritt, n.d.). Bundling tends to mostly favor the seller. By bundling products together makes promoting products and lower marketing costs for the seller. It also simplifies production and reduces errors. An example of bundling is buying a new car. Most cars today are sold in a packaged bundle, such as economy edition, sport edition, or luxury edition. By bundling this gives the buyer some of the things they want, but also some things that they will hardly use. Bundling is an attempt to capture more customers’ consumer surplus.

Grace Creek Vineyard and Farm will use cost plus pricing strategy as the means of setting the prices for the red wine and the jalapeno pepper relish. The primary objectives for using cost plus pricing strategy are to gain a market share and make a profit. Cost plus pricing ensures that prices are high enough to meet profit goals. The cost plus pricing is determined by adding the direct costs of materials, direct labor costs, and overhead to determine what it costs the company to offer the products then adding a percentage to determine the selling price. The biggest advantage of this pricing strategy is that the company knows the exact amount of expenditure that incurred in making the products and therefore can add the profit margin accordingly.…

With experience as a grocery manager for Weis Markets in Frederick, Maryland, I know the how the pricing of particular items are advertised. Sometimes steep cutbacks on prices actually happen to the point of losing money on each sale (typically when you are limited by quantity). This is a ploy to get you in the door, and then you are compelled to buy other items as well where the profit margin is higher. The end result is a modest profit for the company while providing cheaper prices than the convenience…

The advanced pricing technique that would be most appropriate for a Sam’s Club or Costco would be second degree price discrimination. Second degree price discrimination is defined by Thomas and Maurice (2010, p. 583) as, “When a firm offers lower prices for larger quantities and lets buyers self-select the price they pay by choosing how much to buy.” Therefore, when the same consumer buys more than one unit of a good or service at a time the marginal value placed on consuming additional units declines as more units are consumed (Thomas & Maurice 2010). In addition, second degree price discrimination reduces the average price as the amount purchased increases.…

Separate but Equal Plessy v. Ferguson was the first case to justify segregation using the ‘separate but equal’ doctrine. The Supreme Court’s stand on the Brown v the Board of Education case has been appreciated with much significance. To some people it was a sign of the beginning of the civil rights in the 1950s and the 1960s while to others it was an indication of the crumbling of segregation. The Brown decision is a landmark in history as it overturned the legal policies that had been established by the Plessy v. Ferguson decisions that made practices of separate but equal legal. For a long time, civil rights movements in the first fifty years of the 290th century were concurrent with the policy, separate but equal, in efforts to get a grip…

With such a diverse range of products, and fierce commercial competition, they should use a mixture of skim and penetrating pricing. For example, Whittaker 's co-brand product, Lewis road creamery, should use skim pricing. By charging such a outrageous price from the launch they are able to capitalize on early customers of the product who are willing to pay a premium price for such a excellent product. When sales peak or start to decline for that group, Whitakers should slowly start ‘skimming’ their price until they reach a perfect…

On the other hand some firms may deliberately raise the prices to convey that their product is of high esteem value. In both cases, the pricing strategy has to match the total marketing strategy, that is, for pricing the product higher, the product quality should also be good.
