Battle Of Thermopylae Final Claim I believe that there were 350,000 Persian foot soldiers fighting. I have based this conclusion off of Document D, which included reliable evidence relating to the water resources and the realisticness of how many soldiers could be supported. To go more in depth, although Document C also makes a point regarding the water supply; Document D informs us of the man-made reservoirs that would’ve allowed more than 250,000 men to travel along the route. With over one million soldiers, “It would be physically impossible to march that many men along the roads available...” Furthermore, the author of Document D, Rupert Matthews, has written over 200 books on history, which proves that he is more knowledgeable in that…

Ernest Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises is packed with symbols. Most prevalent is that of bulls and bullfighting in Pamplona. Hemingway uses the bullfights as more than just setting or plot, but to illuminate the internal workings of the characters’ behaviours and attitudes towards sexuality and each other. Combined with the ways bullfighting parallels the characters’ lives and knowledge of Hemingway’s real life inspirations in writing the novel, closely observing the use of bullfighting serves to uncover more about the characters and their motivations.…

Both Creon and Brutus have important tragic flaws that lead to an ultimatum. King Creon (Antigone) has the unfortunate flaw of being completely stubborn. For example, when Creon is talking to Antigone, he says "Go join them, then; if you must have your love, find it in hell!" Creon is showing his stubbornness by not letting Antigone free and wanting to execute her. He is constantly angry at Antigone.…

The Tragedy of Julius Caesar No matter what the circumstances, people always look for someone to blame. Caesar’s murder results in the plebeians needing to blame someone for what happened. Despite Brutus’s honor and respect among the Romans, Antony gave the more convincing speech at Caesar’s funeral by having an emotional impact on the Romans, therefore proving to them that the conspirators committed an injustice to Rome. Brutus first speaks at Caesar’s funeral with the goal of justifying his actions to the plebeians.…

Robert Yates (Brutus I) was a politician and a judge for Anti-Federalist stances. Brutus emphasized on many things such as opposing to the expansion of a national government, worked against the adoption of the Constitution, and was one of the most vocal delegates in support of the protection of individual liberties. Brutus found many issues regarding the legislation granting the government too much power, power given to the judiciary, the preamble setting ends of a clause, and congress granting power over multiple things. These issues became important when they began to affect the liberties of many citizens. Two of Brutus’s main issues/concerns (in which I found interesting) is that the legislation gave the government too much power, and power…

Notwithstanding the greatness of his loyalty, Mark Antony displays many other indications of being a hero, an example of such being his favor in the eyes of the Roman people. The people of Rome chose to side with Antony over Brutus, when each character gave their funeral speeches after the death of Caesar. Brutus gave to the people his reasoning for killing Caesar, yet Antony only praised his deceased friend and never once tried to directly disprove the conspirator’s word. As Antony’s speech goes on his listeners fondness for him noticeably grows, the plebeians words show this well. The character of Third Plebeian says, even before the speech comes to an end, “There’s not a nobler man in Rome than Antony.”…

Having the views of the common people almost always results in your favor. It gives the conspirators strength in numbers to overcome their opposition. In Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, the Plebeians are easily manipulable and change their opinion three major times. The Plebeians are not deep thinkers about these decisions like Brutus had been with Cassius’ persuasiveness to murder Caesar, they simply make their decisions on their feet. The Plebeians support one side of a story and then completely change their opinions to support the opposite side.…
