Story Analysis: Bum Town

hj0A A A Chicago, Illinois, where the crime is on the high and so are the people. Bert, a young and aspiring basketball player, who is fourteen years old is walking back home after practicing some hoops. He is walking back and passes under a bridge. The bridge was known as “Bum Town” since a bunch of bums lived under the bridge. While he was passing Bum Town, he notices a man who asks him for some money.
A Bert then checks his pockets for change and comes out empty. The man notices that Bert is wearing a gold chain that is flashing in front of his eyes. The man asks him about the gold chain and Bert explains that it 's his grandfather 's. Before he passed away, he gave him that so Bert could always remember him. A A A A A A A A A A

He never remembered what his dad looked like, but he hated him with a passion. He goes into his room and then takes off his clothes and changes. He notices that his chain has gone missing. He looks everywhere, thinking that it could have dropped down onto the stairs or in the apartment.
He figures out that his chain fell while he was running away from the bums. He was angry, since that meant a lot to him. He knew that the bums most likely picked up the necklace by now, since they probably followed him. He was in a bad mood. He doesn’t want to tell his mom, since she will just get angry at him. He just kept it to himself, and made sure nothing like that ever happened again. a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a For him, tomorrow is going to be Monday, which means school for him. He was a freshman in highschool, and was picked on for his race and for his skills in basketball. He was the only asian in his school, let alone in Chicago. He never liked going to school, since he never had any friends in high school. He goes to sleep and then wakes up for school and gets ready. He brings a basketball to school, since he plays basketball everyday after school.
