However, in 1835 the Seminoles rejected the terms of this treaty. As a consequence of this conflict between Indians and whites pertaining to the ownership of land in east Florida, the Second Seminole War began. During this war, several treaties had been made but the Seminole chiefs deemed them as unfair. Due to the war, Major Benjamin Putnam and his troops, who called themselves “Mosquito Roarers”, occupied Bulow Plantation. As they arrived on Bulows property, he fired a small canon at them due to the fact that he did not want them to occupy his plantation. He fired simply because he believed his plantation would be destroyed if it was fortified. Despite Bulow’s efforts, the men locked him up and fortified the plantation house. For example, making Bulow Plantation more kid-friendly. Many adults go to Bulow plantation because of the scenery and because of the historical aspect, however, many children aren’t interested in these types of things. If Bulow Plantation had more kid-friendly things, such as outdoor games, and maybe even a playground area, people would be more likely to take their kids there and suggest it to others to bring their kids. Also, doing other things such as having events with music, snacks, etc. would certainly help in attracting people to Bulow. Adults not only love history and nature, but they also love to hang out and eat finger foods. For example, Flagler Beach does an event called “First Friday” in which people go to hang out and promote their businesses. There is food, music, and more. Something like this would be perfect in promoting Bulow Park. Bulow Plantation also needs to be advertised more. Although Bulow Plantation Park is already advertised through social media, it would be very helpful if it was advertised more, specifically by teenagers. Teenagers are very big on social media and word about Bulow Park would get around much quicker. Posting flyers on Facebook, Twitter, etc., about an event that Bulow Park is having would easily attract people of all ages to come and
