Our society has been dealing with violence on a regular basis. In fact, violence has become a part of today’s society happening in schools, streets, homes, and even on television. The television broadcast it and we all watch it. Some shows are not so bad, and some are so gruesome, I think how do people think like this. Some are based on true stories and some are not, but the crimes did not start today, they go all the way back to the most known movie that has been made over many times, the Texas chainsaw massacre.…

This film highlighted harsh realities that often go undiscussed by my peers in today’s society. Class, gender, and race were brought up to demonstrate that the dominate groups, such as whites or men, have power and often get exempt from accusations. The film pointed out that when women act violently the focus of the story is gender, whereas when men act violently the focus shifts to race. This only exemplifies the power of those dominate groups. I was also shocked to see real statistics about an outstanding majority of crimes falling on men.…

There aren’t many controversial topics that arise in The Road, but one of the main ones that come up involve violence and how it could be seen as justified. Violence, while still very prevalent in our modern day society, could be seen as a defense mechanism and there for, justifiable in the eyes of the law. “Although Cormac McCarthy is known as a connoisseur of excessive violence, we think most of the violent stuff in The Road is justified. McCarthy portrays a post-apocalyptic landscape where the scarcity of resources has driven the few survivors to murder, thievery, and even cannibalism.” The Road is full of instances where the man has to use violence to protect himself as well as the boy, in these scenarios, do you think that it is justified…

Violence has had a big impact on the history of mankind. Violent actions has been used for the worst. For example, when settlers killed Native Americans over their lands, when Adolf Hitler murdered 3 million Jews over his hatred for them, or when the (most recent) ISIS attack against Paris slaughtered hundreds ( "Paris Attacks: What Happened on the Night - BBC News." BBC News): these were all settled in brutal ways, all killing innocent lives (Welsh “Is Violence Ever Justified? Does Violence Ever Solve Anything?”).…

The Webster dictionary defines violence as “The use of physical force to harm someone, to damage property”(Violence, n.d.).There is no doubt that violence has been apparent in the evolution of humans, whether it be in modern civilization or in the early stages of homo sapient life. The question lies in whether violence is something humans have programmed in their genes or is a product of human lifestyle and culture. The topic of whether humans are violent by nature or not has been debated for years since there is no indefinite answer at the time being, however, I believe the case for humans being inherently violent is a much more firm opinion for a few reasons. These reasons consist of the fact that humans seem to constantly be at war, our ancestors were violent, and violence has been used as entertainment for centuries. Humans have never had a problem with conducting their day to day lives…
