Audience: Parents and the victim of Cyberbullying Cyberbullying can affect any age group, but is most prevalent among the adolescents. Due to the children 's fear of addressing the issue, parents are not always aware about their children 's internet use. In order to stop the bullying, the parents should set certain standards of monitoring their children 's internet use while considering the child 's feelings and safety and take action by working with the school and/or police. In other words, the school district must provide resources for parents and students on the issue of cyberbullying and school officials must take action when the child is bullied. Also, in reference to RCW 28A.600.480 it states:
A school employee, student, or volunteer who promptly reports an incident of harassment, intimidation, or bullying to an appropriate school official, and who makes this report in compliance with the procedures in the district 's policy prohibiting bullying, harassment, or intimidation, is immune from a cause of action for damages arising from any failure to remedy the reported incident (3).
When the parent and child report the bullying to the school, both parties are protected under the law. Also, due to the recent technology, there is a higher chance of children becoming victims of cyberbullying, putting the children’s safety at risk.
