Bullying: The Consequences Of Peer Pressure

An influence that a peer group, observers or individual exerts that encourages others to change their attitudes, values, or behaviors to conform to group norms is considered peer pressure (google). Throughout time there have been so many different developments of peer pressure. Some of these developments may contain the pressure to do corrupt or moral things. Many diverse types of people and diverse age groups all have been through the means of peer pressure. How can someone be forced into hurting someone else? Well it happens a lot and it has been happening a lot lately. Bullying is not just of physical, but it is emotionally and mentally. Bullying happens in schools, at work, at home, on the streets and even in churches. Someone can be pressured into bullying because like always they want to fit in and the only way to fit in is to belittle those who aren’t as popular as you. For an example, if you want to be in with the cool kids you have to stop hanging around your lame friends. This would be considered emotionally bullying toward your friends, because they feel as if they are not good enough for you anymore. The pressure of bullying at home goes to a whole different situation. An abusive parent could force one child beat up on the other just so they can feel good about themselves. The churches are always bullying they put in each other’s head to look down on those who are not in their minds “Godly like,” and if you are godly like you are forced or pressured to give the same treatment and stop being around or talking to those who are …show more content…
Adults have many different situations of peer pressure within their adult life. Adults can go through situations where they are pressured into doing something just to keep their jobs. Another example is an adult that is pressured into stealing from their jobs. A child or adult can also be pressured into doing the right thing, but the fact that they are pressured so much they end up doing the right thing wrong. For an example, a parent can pressure their child to be the absolute best in school, better than anyone else, but the fact that they have so much weight on them they cannot keep that great job up throughout the thirteen years they are in school. A situation that has come up lately is peer pressure within relationships, especially in the domestic violence ones. A person can be pressured to mistreat their children because their other half, who they are terrified of, does not like or understand their children.
