It’s not always something physical that bullies someone, it could be something emotion. Like the story about Eve Shalen. She’s been bullied since second grade by the same group of girls. Eve would be talking in class and she would hear muffled giggles and when she turned around the girls would roll their eyes. If she was out at recess and went up to a group of people they would all fall silent and sometimes she would even catch the end of someone’s joke against her. One day in eighth grade while Eve was watching a basketball game, one of the popular girls came up to Eve to show her something. They both walked to a group of three to four other girls and started reading this girl 's diary and laughing at what it was saying. They all started laughing, and in the middle of that moment Eve realized that it was her that was the bully now, but she didn’t care because she was accepted for once and in that moment, that’s all that mattered. Eve said “Often being accepted by others is more satisfying than being accepted by oneself, even though the satisfaction does not last”. That statement is so true, especially after being bullied for 6 years straight. The satisfaction of being accepted in that moment, especially by the popular girls, took over her body and she didn’t care what she was doing, she was accepted. Oyster River definitely doesn’t have bad bullying 's like in the movie Bully, but I can tell you that it still has bullying. No school is completely free of it. No matter how fancy the school district is, or if it’s a private school or not, there’s still going to be bullying. Some schools are just worse than others. I couldn’t tell you much about what I’ve seen at the Oyster River schools. I’ve never been bullied and I’ve never seen someone getting bullied. Except for this one girl in 5th grade who had some mental issue I’m guessing that would physically beat this one girl around teachers, principals, anyone. The police were involved, she tried to run away and hide, she was found, and then suspended. Nothing like that has even come close to happening after she left.
