We need to ask ourselves if we even know what bullying is. Although bullying used to be a rite of passage, it is now a devastating form of abuse that can have many long-term effects on people. Do we even know what the true definition of bullying is?
Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Both kids who are bullied and who bully others may have serious, lasting problems (What is Bullying). Bullying is making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically and/or verbally, and excluding them from a group of people on purpose.
There are three types of bullying. One type of bullying is verbal bullying. Verbal bulling is saying or writing mean things. That includes teasing, name-calling, inappropriate sexual comments, taunting, and threatening to cause harm. Another type of bullying is social bullying.
