You might think of kids picking on each other, name calling, or of even sometimes a fighting and shoving match on the playground. The definition of bullying can be very broad. A summarization of bullying is an aggressive behavior that involves unwanted negative actions that are repeated over time and shows an imbalance of power or strength over someone. Bullying comes in several different forms. The most common forms are physical bullying, verbal bullying, social alienation and cyberbullying (Recognizing Bullying). Physical bullying is the most common form of bullying. It includes hitting, pushing, tripping, slapping, and stealing. This type of bullying is what we all think of first when we know someone is being picked on unfairly at school. Verbal bullying is another form of bullying and it can be as harmful as physical bullying. This type of bullying is recognized by name-calling, insults, gossip, teasing, taunting, and intimidation.
