Have you ever been personally targeted by another individual? Maybe not physically but verbally hurt? Have you ever known someone who physically hurt or even took their own life because of bullying? The issue of bullying has become a much more serious topic as many cases are starting to evolve. It can be quite serious when it comes to this day in age. Bullying can be defined as mean, hurtful behavior that occurs repeatedly in a relationship with an imbalance of power or strength. An acronym that is set in place to combat bullying is RIP. Relational bullying can cause an individual to go through extreme mood changes and shift to being alone more often. Overall, bullying is more common among boys, but it can be harder to spot among girls, who are more likely to engage in relational aggression rather than physical aggression. Relational bullying is just as damaging to the victim, but can even cause more damage on the individual. In the movie Mean Girls, the stereotype of the female bully is presented. Like the girls in the movie, female bullies are more likely to engage in social bullying. Female bullies tend to attack other females through rumors, excluding, and teasing. They are also more likely to gossip about their victims online. Their goal is to damage the victim’s reputation and isolate them from others. Females try to tear others appearances down and make them look bad in front of others. Since females are more secretive and devious about it, they have a lesser chance of being caught. Relational bullying comes with no physical evidence, but mentally it can ruin a person. It tends to last a longer period of time due to the fact that you can not contain a person from using hurtful
