Bullying has a significant impact both physically and emotionally on students.
According to Susan Porter in her article “Why Our Approach to Bullying is Bad for Schools” she states on page 1 “One in five students are bullied” (Porter 1). In the book on page 118, Shelley states “when I proceeded to execute my plan, my limbs failed me, and I sank to the ground” (Shelley 118). This means that the creature is scared to show his appearance to the De Lacy family because of how he looks. Because of this, the creature goes on a rampage and is scared to meet another human being again. Along with that, Margaret Shaw states in her article “Promoting Safety in Schools: International Experience and Action”, “Bullying occurs in all types of school and can have short- and long-term effects on students—from increasing fear and insecurity” (Shaw 6). She is telling us that because of bullying people are in fear of how people perceive them or what they look like on an average school day. Also, people who are insecure are already nervous to talk to people and if they do talk to someone and get bullied they will feel not needed and could end their life because of it. In an article by Jill Devoe on page 12 she states “Fear is one by-product of threats and violence, and those students who are bullied a school may be afraid to attend school” (Devoe 12). This means that students may be scared to go to school because of their appearance and their fear to be bullied. Also, with this being said, students have a fear of many things and bullying is something to be fearful for along with their appearance in
