When he's not working at the rodeo, Nash works on a different kind of bullying—childhood bullying. This kind of bullying happens in school, on playgrounds, and even on the Internet. To help prevent bullying, Nash has developed the "Bullying Hurts" program. Older students are trained to help younger ones learn to handle bullying. Students also learn that violence is not the answer.
"So many people think that bullying is just a [part of life]," Nash said. "[But] kids have feelings too. And so that's what we try to do is help them channel and be able to discuss and find a solution that works for them."
The goal of the program is to help kids learn to deal with bullying at a young age. The program teaches that bullying is common. It also explains that retaliation against bullies is not a solution. Often, Nash says, attempts to get even result in more violence. That solves nothing.
"That's the key to the whole thing, that violence is never the answer," Nash said. The program teaches kids where they can get help if they are being bullied.
