Bullying: Exposed In Act 1 Lead To A Crisis

Superior Essays

As technology advances, the affect of bullying on individuals is a growing concern with the ability to reach victims in their own homes via social media. Victims are left feeling socially withdrawn and powerless.
Bullying as a social issue in today’s day and age is not left unnoticed, though is still a growing problem and thrives partially in schools, the work place and on online networks. Education is a critical strategy to change and control issues such as these, so that individuals can recognise the consequences

“Have you ever sat in a room full of people and, felt as though you were the only person there?
Sometimes I wonder where it all started, a recollection of a wholeness I no longer knew; it wasn’t always this way.
But lately it has become apparent that there is no escape to such a labyrinth.
Over 3.2 million victims of bullying in schools each year;
I try to remember this.
But when you’re told you are worthless 26 times in one morning you begin to forget that there is anyone else suffering in this world. I liked to be alone.
An escape for both my mind and conscious to rest,
It was nice here.
My phone buzzes like an earthquake, the words like piercing lashes till my limbs feel foreign. Because feeling alone when you’re surrounded by people is the utter most emptiness I’ve ever felt.
They don’t stop
The walls here my cries and they’re the only ones who listen
A toilet cubicle is NOT a lunchroom.

Because not everyone in this word is out to get you, and some people are kinder than others. If I’ve learnt anything its to not seclude yourself into your own mind to escape from your surroundings because they will always find their way in;
Always.

But one day a glimmer of hope subsided in my lungs, as a stranger came to my comfort. I remember how strange this felt knowing someone, actually cared. *Breathes out*

I want you to know that it gets better,

I want you to know that there are people out there that care about you and sometimes… you won’t even know their name.
I want you to know that standing up for yourself is hard but people are there to support you if you fall. I want you to know its okay to be afraid…
But I want you to know that this affects 1 in four of students like you and I everyday, and a simple gesture could be the life support in a girl’s week.
It doesn’t have to be this way.

I want you to think of 3 words someone has said about you in your lifetime, ugly, worthless, nobody.
Throw them away! You are not bound by the words of others!
We are all unique, and different, and it’s

    “Knowing now I would never be alone again never lonely again as in those years God allowed me to be thus as if He did not exist forcing onto me the bitter knowledge that he did not exist in truth or if He did His existence touched in no way upon my own.” (Foxfire 45) While religion should serve as a guide for Maddy, it ultimately leads to her own alienation until she joins FOXFIRE. The Solitude Ship The idea of being completely alone either frightens people, or it makes them sit back and take a sigh of relief. It was Henry David Thoreau who said in his book Walden, “Not till we are lost, in other words not till we have lost the world, do we begin to find ourselves, and realize where we are and the infinite extent of our relations” (Thoreau 137). Mark Twain, in his book The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, plays on this very same idea. When Huck is floating down the river, away from the hectic life of the shore, he is comfortable and has few problems in his life. But everytime he touched down on the beaches of the Mississippi, he would experience the horrors of society and the harsh environments that people create.…

    Nobody wants to hear an argument between two people they love. They are instantly torn because even though they might agree with one person over the other, they care about the other person as well and do not want to hurt that person’s feelings. This type of argument may have been even more difficult for Emily Dickinson, an iconic American poet, because the argument that she was experiencing was her versus herself. Unlike some people in the middle of arguments there was no way for her to leave the argument. In her poem “Me from Myself-to Banish*” she details being alone, her desire for peace, and an inner conflict that she is having with herself.…
