The squinted eyes gawked at me through the thick shrubs. In a flash of shock and terror, I swiftly turned around, only to be greeted with the rough surface of a pine tree. I had nowhere to go. In the grip of panic, fear shivered down my spine as my heart began to beat wildly. I have lost any sense of my surrounding as all the tension flooded my mind, turning my brain into a mental soup of conflicting instructions. Dread creeped down my spine like an ominous spider leaving a trail of silk. I feel her feet on my skin, descending until I’m frozen to the depths of my soul. My stomach churns in agony; my feet are set in concrete; my mind worryingly empty. All I can do is pray that the surge of negative thoughts in my head stay in my head and not …show more content…
Today I realised that there is a substantial difference between knowing and feeling. The scorching sun poured out its brilliant hot oranges and reds into the horizon like a pot of molten lava. I began to feel the sweat drip down my shirt, my thirst beckoning to be replenished. I licked my lips, trying to wet my mouth but to no avail. I put my eye up to my water bottle and saw all the way to the bottom, as if it would magically fill itself while I wasn’t paying attention. That was literally the minimal supply I had with me; a water bottle, a finished pack of gum and a camera. I was a tourist after all.
But I didn’t let that bother me as my focus was solely on following the boy. We walked for a few minutes until we reached a large tree. I stumbled over to it, seeking whatever shade it could provide from the midday sun. The top was a mass of arrow-head shaped leaves, dark green and inviting. I closed my eyes and prayed that this unbearable pain would

“Thank you for bringing me here,” I said.
And then he gives me a smile that just seems so genuinely sweet with just the right touch of shyness that unexpected warmth rushes through me.
“You gave me story stranger that I will share to my brothers,” he said, a sense of glee resonated from his voice. “I thank you for helping me with that stranger.”
“Matt,” I said softly. “My name is Matt.”
“Okay stranger Matt. Goodbye,” he giggled as he dashed down the hill, his messy hair swerving in a crazy motion.
To say that I was amazed didn’t quite do justice to my feelings. My mind felt a sensation that I never felt ever before. It felt like someone just took a spark of wonder and poured it right into me. The smile I showed on the outside couldn’t adequately reflect what I felt inside; it was like every neuron in my brain was trying to fire in both directions at once – the best kind of paralysis. This country was one of a kind. I stood there for a while, inhaling the beautiful fragrance of my surroundings. It was like I was breathed in a new life.
I will never forget the story you told me my friend, I thought to myself as I began to make my way down the hill

The adrenaline was pumping through my veins and I couldn’t stop despite the fact that my lungs felt as if there were icy shards lodged in my chest. The tears in my eyes were no longer tears, but streaks of moisture…

She walked down the cold, dark corridor as she felt the soft and quiet wind run her by causing her to experience an ice-cold chill that ran up her spine. It was merely past six in the afternoon, yet the eerie atmosphere made it appear as if she were standing in the middle of a cemetery at the darkest hour of the night. The hot, moisty air made her clothes and hair cling to her skin. Her hands began to shake and sweat trickled down her palms. She swore she heard someone’s voice whisper her name, but perhaps it was simply the wind.…

The air was crisp; dew dripped off of the freshly mowed lawn. A slight breeze swung me softly side to side. There I was, on the ragged concrete steps, leaning morosely aside the brick pillar. Prologue The rain had poured down on the streets of Chicago at four in the morning. There was silence save for the sound of the heavy rain and the one or two cars that were coming home from their graveyard shifts at the local bars or the family of five taking their trip to some other far off location. No one was around to hear the sounds of crying, screaming. The sound of someone’s kneecaps being broken with a baseball bat.…

Disbelieve and fear shook my mind as I lie on my back, sitting on top of concrete sandwiched in between the hot metal hood of a car, as the weight pressed down against me it didn’t hurt, my body was too numb to feel anything. All I could feel was a car pushing me further into the ground pushing my lungs down and shutting air out of it. It felt too surreal I kept blinking as if I thought I’d wake up from this mess. I could see sirens and people gathering around me watching in disbelieve, I kept fading in and out of conscience I felt like I was close to death.…
