Effects Of Bullying On Society

Society and Bullying Bullying is a well-known act, but yet, society fails to see how truly wrong it is. Today people are ignorant of the psychological effects of bullying. If someone witnesses bullying, they are more likely to walk away than actually say something about it. Many people today think they might know what bullying is, but truly, very few people do. Bullying needs to become more widely known, people need to understand that the effects are greater than they are probably hoping for.

Telling an adult at home is great to do, especially if the victim is the one telling someone. Although, if someone told someone else about a bully, and the bully found out, in some cases the bully might get worse, and bring more struggle down on their victim, because they are now a “tattle tale”. Most students or even employees in a workplace will not say anything about bullying that they witness. Why do people not want to help a victim of a bully? Occasionally, people take matters into their own hands. While someone might argue that getting back at the bully is a good idea, it just turns them into the bully. Students know when they are bullying someone, but usually do not realize how hurtful it can be. Society is not understanding that these numbers, are ridiculous. Yet, society is basically dumbfounded and in denial when bullying is brought up as something that is harmful. The phrase “boys will be boys” is too often used by parents when they are told about their son bullying someone. Boys indeed will be boys, but there is a certain extent where it becomes not
